Happy Fall!

Hello friends..

We're starting to set up a few shows after a hiatus due in part to busted thumbs and in part to busy lives. Look for more to come this fall/winter including some NW shows with our pals the Crow Quill Night Owls, and if we can get it together.. Lonesome Shack. In the meantime we'll be pressin' cider, bakin' bread, teachin' the kids, and gettin' wet in the rain! Also The Shadies (Lucas Hicks, Reeb Willms, Jenny Lara, Andy Rick, and sometimes Devin Champlin and others) play every Tuesday in Bellingham at The Honeymoon. Drink some mead, listen to some oldtime country. Jam!

Subdued Stringband Jamboree...

Well folks.. I was just sitting here, thinking on some of the good times I've had.. and let me tell you, I've had my share.. and I thought about the Subdued Stringband Jamboree. It's hands down my favorite festival all year. Perhaps I'm biased as I've been on the stage building crew the last 6 years, played on one or both of the stages every year I've been there, and it's a field full of some of my favorite people camping out having fun. But no matter where you come from, you can't deny the good times to be had at the Jamboree. The basic rundown: Two stages, bands alternate between the two throughout the day and into the evening, a big field and some shade trees to enjoy the music or dance, scattered jams happen all around, a ukulele workshop in the morning, a few food vendors, lots of smiles, antique logging equipment to gawk at, the sun goes down, the last band on stage gives it their all, you find yourself at a campfire with a guitar in your hands, the bottle is passed, the banjo plucks on, if you are the light sleeper type you head to quiet camp for some rest, or maybe you play songs with old friends and new friends til the sun comes up, you pass festival organizer Robert Sarazin Blake on your way to your tent, he bids you goodnight as he sings some old song into the crisp morning air... wake up and repeat.

The Subdued Stringband Jamboree happens August 12th and 13th, 2011.

Upcoming Shows - Seattle, Bellingham, Portland, Olympia!

Hey folks..

First off, we will both be attending the Olympia Oldtime Festival. It runs Feb 17-20 and features concerts, dances, jams, and workshops. The Gallus Brothers won't actually be performing.. at least not as us.. but as The Shadies along with our buddies Andy and Reeb. We'll be playing Honky Tonk and Bluegrass and stuff like that. Devin will teach a Ragtime/fingerpicking guitar workshop, and Lucas will teach a workshop on playing Spoons, Bones, and Washboard! These workshops happen Saturday.

Feb 19th Saturday, we'll head from our workshops in Oly, and down I-5 to Portland for a show with our friends Sabrina Chap, and The Underscore Orkestra. Underscore play great gypsy jazz/klezmer/swing/?? and are talented and fun! Sabrina is from New York and is a ragtime revivalist on the piano! Where? we'll let you know soon!

Feb 27th Sunday, Seattle, we'll team up with Sabrina again this time for what's being billed as a "Vaudvillian Throwdown"! What does that mean exactly? I'm not sure, but I can say that there will be good music, dangerous antics, and boobs! This all happens at 7pm at the Jewel Box Theatre ocated in the Rendevous Lounge in Seattle. Only 5 bucks! Take note.. this is an Early Show.. 7pm

March 3rd we will be playing in good ol' Bellingham at the Green Frog! One of our favorite venues and certainly one of our favorite towns. And, we'll be playing with one of favorite bands.. The Underscore Orkestra from Portland! So if you miss our Portland show because we never figure out where it is, at least you can catch both bands here!

Also, half of us (Devin) will be playing with The Crow Quill Night Owls on Feb 10th and 11th. Thursday the 10th in Port Townsend at the Undertown Cafe. Friday Feb 11th at The Owl n Thistle in Seattle! Great bar, great music, come feel the love.
