Subdued Stringband Jamboree...

Well folks.. I was just sitting here, thinking on some of the good times I've had.. and let me tell you, I've had my share.. and I thought about the Subdued Stringband Jamboree. It's hands down my favorite festival all year. Perhaps I'm biased as I've been on the stage building crew the last 6 years, played on one or both of the stages every year I've been there, and it's a field full of some of my favorite people camping out having fun. But no matter where you come from, you can't deny the good times to be had at the Jamboree. The basic rundown: Two stages, bands alternate between the two throughout the day and into the evening, a big field and some shade trees to enjoy the music or dance, scattered jams happen all around, a ukulele workshop in the morning, a few food vendors, lots of smiles, antique logging equipment to gawk at, the sun goes down, the last band on stage gives it their all, you find yourself at a campfire with a guitar in your hands, the bottle is passed, the banjo plucks on, if you are the light sleeper type you head to quiet camp for some rest, or maybe you play songs with old friends and new friends til the sun comes up, you pass festival organizer Robert Sarazin Blake on your way to your tent, he bids you goodnight as he sings some old song into the crisp morning air... wake up and repeat.

The Subdued Stringband Jamboree happens August 12th and 13th, 2011.
